The SPOBIS Gaming & Media is the leading conference at the interface between sport (business) and esport. La Liga boss explains digital strategy

Javier Tebas, President of La Liga, will share details of the league’s digital strategy in his talk entitled "Through digitalisation to the top: How La Liga plans to become the leading digital league in world football."
Leading figures from German club football will set the pace at the SPOBIS 2017 – among them, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (Chairman, FC Bayern Munich) and Hans-Joachim Watzke (Chairman, Borussia Dortmund), who will discuss the future of European football and the role of German clubs. Other renowned club decision-makers will also take to the stage to reflect on a whole range of issues: 1. FC Kaiserslautern, 1. The sports tech country of Israel: these start-ups will attend the SPOBIS!

A growing number of Israeli companies are influencing the international world of sport with their technical innovations. Together with our partners of the Israel Export Institute and the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry, we will welcome eight up-and-coming companies to the SPOBIS and bring them together with potential investors and customers.
And we’re off on the next round! Together with our Special Partner B&M Marketing, a long-term marketer of leading motorsport media such as AUTO BILD MOTORSPORT and Motorsport-Total.com, we will once again bring high-profile speakers from the motorsport industry to the stage.
Under Armour is presently perhaps one of the most exciting and aggressive challengers on the international supplier market. The Baltimore-based sports outfitter has plans to even overtake rivals adidas and Nike. We want to hear from Chris Bate (VP Europe) how the company intends to achieve this and what this would mean for the European and especially the German markets.

Awarding of the Bundesliga rights for the 2017/18 season through to the 2020/21 season was the sports media talking point of the year. At the SPOBIS, the new DFL partners Eurosport and RTL Nitro will discuss their strategies for utilising the DFL rights. Sport1 will explain how it intends to compensate for loss of the broadcasting rights.
VdS plenary session: CEOs of Germany’s 41 largest sports venues to attend

The Association of German Stadium Operators (VdS) that brings together the decision-makers from Germany’s largest stadiums and arenas will hold its plenary session at the SPOBIS for the first time.
A number of venue managers will also be involved in a separate themed block during the SUMMIT by and in cooperation with our new “Special Partner”.
When it comes to the digitalisation, internationalisation and commercialisation of sports, the US sports industry is leading the way. Particularly the NFL and NBA are the measures of all things. In Düsseldorf, NFL development expert Akash Jain and NBA VP EMEA Benjamin Morel will share strategies and insights from their league business.
In order to meet the people behind these and to take a look at the latest ideas, we have invited selected Israeli start-ups to the SPOBIS with the aim of bringing them together with interested investors and customers. (We’ll be announcing which start-ups will be attending very soon!)
It must be the biggest new product in the German sports media scene for years: this summer, the Perform Group launched DAZN, which has been heralded as the “Netflix of sport”. For €9.99 a month, sports fans are able to watch the English Premier League as well as the US NBA and NFL sports leagues. The broadcaster also holds the rights for Bundesliga highlights. At the SPOBIS, DAZN CCO John Gleasure (who is also one of Perform’s founders) will explain the project and take stock – during DAZN’s first ever appearance on stage in Germany.

Keep Fighting Award launched by the Schumacher family at the SPOBIS

The Keep Fighting Award is the first action of the Keep Fighting initiative, which was launched by the Schumacher family for charitable purposes and was presented for the first time at the SPOBIS 2017.
Vanessa Low, the Rio Paralympics Gold medal winner, was presented with the Keep Fighting Award by Mr. Jean Todt, President of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and a long-time friend of the Schumacher family. The laudation was delivered by reigning Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg, who from 2010 to 2012 was Schumacher's team-mate, with the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team.
The SPOBIS, Europe’s largest sports business meet, is to evolve from a conference to a sports business festival. From 2018, countless new features and innovations will be offered within the three event components of a SUMMIT, EXPO and SIDE EVENTS.
